Position: Architectural BIM Specialist (Design Technology Specialist)

BDE Architecture is looking for an Architectural BIM Specialist (Design Technology Specialist by AIA definition) who enjoys improving how architects work - from cleaner Revit models to smarter BIM workflows and better standards across the firm. The BIM Specialist works directly with the BIM Manager and as part of a digital design/BIM team to achieve consistent results. This role provides support for project kickoff activities, including initial project setup and workflow documentation, daily Revit model administration and maintenance, and the development of BIM content.

The position also contributes to the research, development, and implementation of design technology systems and the integration of digital design tools with other applications.

This role is well suited for an early-to-mid career design technology professional or a former architect enthusiastic about technology and seeking opportunities to learn, grow, and advance within an architectural design technology environment.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Quality Assurance & Guidance:
  • Enforce BDE’s BIM and graphic standards, and best practices by conducting pre-submission model reviews and drawing sets.
  • Guide project teams in addressing identified issues to prevent their recurrence in future submissions.
  • Provide hands‑on Revit support to project teams during deadlines.
  • BIM Standards & Content Development:
  • Assist in maintaining and updating Revit project templates.
  • Create and modify Revit families and support detail updates when requested by the QA/QC team.
  • Project‑Specific Family Development:
  • Adjust existing families to meet project‑specific requirements.
  • Revit Troubleshooting:
  • Offer support in troubleshooting BIM‑related issues, particularly during periods of increased demand for BIM support.
  • Research and Development:
  • Assist with research and development of new tools and technologies.
  • Training:
  • Assist in training programs aimed at improving project efficiency and quality.
  • Create BIM SharePoint pages to communicate and disseminate new workflows.
  • Address issues with an appropriate sense of urgency, particularly during deadlines and urgent troubleshooting.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit software in an architectural environment
  • Revit family editing and creation experience
  • Knowledge of Revit plugins, such as PyRevit, DiRoots, Enscape
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud
  • Basic understanding of BIM concepts and architectural documentation
  • Passionate about Autodesk Revit software and committed to professional growth in the BIM domain
  • Effective problem‑solving skills
  • Interest in mentoring and training Revit staff
  • Detail‑oriented and takes ownership of tasks
  • Self‑motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner both verbally and in writing

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
  • Prior experience supporting or developing BIM standards
  • Experience managing Autodesk licenses
  • Experience with IMAGINiT Clarity
  • Experience with Autodesk Content Catalog
  • Knowledge of Sketch Up
  • Familiarity with Dynamo and Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop)
Education and Experience
  • Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program.
  • Revit Certified Professional credential or ability to gain one within one year of employment
  • An architectural or BIM background, which provides a basic understanding of technical knowledge in architectural drafting and design.
