Captain, CAD​/ AutoCAD​/ Mechanical Design, Design & Architecture

FORGE is seeking a Job Captain to help guide exceptional workplace and commercial architecture projects. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of design, delivery, and leadership—managing teams, schedules, and stakeholder relationships from concept through construction.

• Produce accurate drawings, plans, elevations, 3D views and details with minimal supervision by applying established standards and incorporating feedback from senior staff to ensure clarity and coordination.
• Develop clear, accurate drawings across all phases under the direction of the Sr. PA, PA, or Senior Job Captain
• Support development of coordinated Revit models and contribute to documentation sets.
• Research materials, codes, and technical considerations to support design and detailing.
• Apply FORGE standards for drawing consistency, clarity, and quality control.
• Support the evolving design intent through project phases, from concept to documentation.
• Work closely with Design Leads, Designers and Project Architects on integrated design solutions
• Assist with consultant coordination by gathering information and integrating updates into drawings or diagrams
• Communicate clearly with senior staff regarding progress, questions, and required guidance.
• Demonstrate growing independence in task ownership while knowing when to escape issues.
• Translate design intent into coordinated technical details and documentation
• Implement redlines, maintain drawing consistency, and support QA/QC efforts.
• Organize drawing sets, documentation packages, and model updates to maintain clarity and consistency.
• Support smooth internal coordination between Project Managers, designers, and technical staff.
• Participate in team meetings, capturing action items and ensuring follow through.
• Take initiative to solve problems and elevate issues appropriately.
• Contribute positively to project culture, supporting collaboration and accountability.
• Manage tasks, schedules, deadlines, and deliverables to maintain smooth project flow.
• Support design and technical development by organizing information, tracking progress, and resolving issues early.
• Maintain design intent throughout documentation and execution
• Communicate updates, decisions, and next steps clearly and proactively.
• Build trust by ensuring client expectations are understood and met.

• 5+ years of experience in architecture, interiors, or related fields
• Strong technical knowledge of codes, building systems, and construction
• Proven experience leading projects, teams, and client relationships
• Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
• Proficiency in Revit, Sketch Up, InDesign, Microsoft Office, and related tools
• Strong organizational, delegation, and QA/QC capabilities
• Ability to manage multiple timelines while mentoring team members effectively
• Ability to interpret senior direction and translate it into coordinated drawings
• Growing understanding of how commercial interior spaces are designed and constructed.
• Growing knowledge of building codes related to space planning with an emphasis on IBC Chapter 10 and assembly occupancies
• Familiarity with CBC and ADA requirements at a level appropriate for documentation support.
• Ability to create coordinated floor plans, sections, elevations, and details.
• Strong time management and ability to work within defined deadlines
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks
• Ability to collaborate with senior staff, consultants, and cross-disciplinary teams
