School Counselor

AB Staffing is seeking experienced SELPA School Counselors for the 2025/2026 school year.

Requirements:

• Valid license/certification from the state of California authorizing school counseling, psychological counseling, or related services.
• Experience with special education services for students with disabilities, including preschool and school-aged populations, in a teaching, guidance, or counseling role is preferred.
• Experience with IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) and 504 plans, focusing on academic, career, and social-emotional development.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, stand or sit for extended periods, and perform physical activities such as lifting up to 40 pounds as needed.

Job Description:

Caseload and classroom details vary by school location. Recruitment specialists will discuss specifics upon application to match your experience and skills. The contract runs through the 2025/2026 school year, following the district calendar, with a 37.5 to 40 hours per week schedule.

Essential Functions:

• Resolve students’ educational handicaps and develop their abilities.
• Assist with student registration, orientation, course selection, and record-keeping.
• Provide individual counseling for personal, social, and emotional issues.
• Conduct small group counseling on topics like study skills, social skills, anger management, and grief.
• Disseminate occupational information, evaluate career interests, and organize career days.
• Offer crisis counseling and refer students to community resources as needed.
• Provide staff in-service training and collaborate on student discipline and developmental issues.
• Interpret school objectives to students, parents, and the community.

Salary:

$2,437.50 – $2,625.00 per week
