Position Summary

Power Scholars Academy (PSA) is a summer program focused on preventing learning loss and providing academic intervention. The program serves students across San Francisco and San Mateo Counties, helping them strengthen their academic foundation while also building social‑emotional and critical thinking skills.

PSA Assistant Teachers support students' academic and social development by collaborating with credentialed teachers to create a positive and effective learning environment. Responsibilities include assisting with classroom activities, facilitating enrichment and recreation sessions, and fostering an inclusive and engaging atmosphere.

The program will run from June 8 to July 24, 2026
, with specific dates varying by district site. (
Peninsula June 18th
- July 31st). Training will begin in Spring 2026 and will include sessions tailored to the program and individual training needs.

Job Responsibilities Classroom & Instructional Support
  • Collaborate with teachers to deliver engaging lessons, workshops, and community‑building activities.
  • Support the academic and social development of students by implementing effective instructional strategies.
  • Assist teachers in identifying student needs and adapting instructional practices accordingly.
  • Support classroom instruction, enrichment activities, and field trips.
Student Engagement & Development
  • Act as a positive role model for students.
  • Monitor student progress and recommend adjustments as needed.
Family & Community Communication
  • Communicate with families to ensure they have the resources needed for student success.
Administrative & Logistical Support
  • Maintain accurate records, including attendance and communication logs.
  • Assist with the distribution of materials and resources for students and families.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

PSA Assistant Teachers work in dynamic classroom settings that may include both indoor and outdoor spaces, engaging in activities that require moderate physical activity, such as standing, walking, and interacting with students. The role requires the ability to adapt to a fast‑paced environment, maintain a positive and engaging demeanor, and meet the physical demands of teaching and supervision, including handling classroom materials and technology.

Salary Description

The hourly rate for the PSA Assistant Teacher position ranges from $19.50 to $23.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with industry salary benchmarks. This rate is determined in accordance with grant funding approvals and organizational compensation guidelines, ensuring equity and competitiveness within the field.
