The Community and Public Health Department offers a wide variety of classes that meet graduation and transfer requirements as well as courses designed to train students for careers in public health and social services.
The position would teach courses in the certificate programs (Addiction and Recovery, Community Health Worker, Community Mental Health, and Healthcare Interpreting) and general education courses, depending on qualifications.
The ideal candidate will share the college's commitment to educating its racially and socioeconomically diverse student population and be knowledgeable about culturally responsive teaching techniques and effective practices for engaging diverse communities who are historically underrepresented and underserved in traditional classrooms.
Job Duties
1. Teach Community & Public Health certificate and/or general education courses, based on expertise and qualifications. Refer to the CCSF catalog or visit http://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). for a complete listing.
2. Teach day, evening, weekend, and/or in-person/online/hybrid classes. In-person teaching required for specific courses and programs.
3. Utilize the Canvas Learning Management System to teach online, hybrid-online, and tech-enhanced courses.
4. Teach diverse communities at various sites including CCSF Ocean Campus, CCSF Centers, SFUSD high schools, and the SF County Jail.
5. Create a student-centered classroom and lesson plans that reflect approved department course outlines.
6. Perform duties associated with instructing and assessing student progress including, but not limited to: developing a syllabus, grading, record-keeping, designing written lesson plans, classroom activities, related assignments, student learning outcome assessments, and using technology enhanced teaching.
7. Evaluate student performance and progress through in-class observation, assignments, and tests.
8. Provide opportunities for students to be aware of their progress.
9. Be available and accessible to students when necessary including holding office hours.
10. Respond to student disciplinary issues and work with supervisor and other appropriate campus offices to ensure that student and faculty rights are respected.
11. Maintain accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and academic progress.
12. Submit census, attendance reports, grades and student learning outcomes, including supporting documentation, by the published deadlines.
13. Maintain student confidentiality as required by regulation and Board Policy.
14. Submit textbook and course materials information by the published deadlines.
15. Participate in department and college functions, such as staff meetings, committee work, curriculum development, course revisions and course assessments.
16. Support and engage in innovative, culturally responsive, inclusive, and anti-racist teaching practices related to student success and student equity.
17. Keep abreast of current information, concepts, policies, laws and ideas in the field and with best practices in teaching and learning.
18. Participate in professional development and ongoing trainings on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.
19. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds (Required).
2. Earned Master's Degree in Health Science, Health Education, Biology, Nursing, Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Dietetics, Nutrition, or Public Health from accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT;
OR
Earned Bachelor's Degree in any of the above from an accredited institution AND earned Master's Degree in any Biological Science from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT;
OR
Hold a fully-satisfied LIFE California Community College Instructor Credential in Health and Physical Care Services and Related Technologies (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990);
OR
Earned Master's Degree in Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Guidance Counseling, Educational Counseling, Social Work, Career Development, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT;
OR
Earned Bachelor's Degree in the discipline of the assignment from an accredited institution AND a valid California license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT); OR THE EQUIVALENT;
OR
Hold a fully-satisfied LIFE California Community College Counselor Credential (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990).
Desirable Qualifications
