Since its founding in 1935, City College has evolved into a multicultural, multi-campus community college that is one of the largest single-college districts in the country.

Enrolling over 40,000 students, it offers credit and non-credit instruction and more than 300 degrees and certificates. City College is one of the first in the nation to offer free tuition, providing San Franciscans with the opportunity to access quality college education and workforce training leading to university transfer and career opportunities. Our vision is to provide a sustainable and accessible environment where we support the vibrancy of San Francisco and where we are guided by the principles of inclusiveness, integrity, innovation, creativity, and quality.
