Compensation is determined in accordance with the City College of San Francisco Faculty Salary Schedule for Pay-by-workload assignments. The workload compensation upon entry currently ranges from $2,163.36 to $3,302.80 per workload unit, depending upon placement.
Position
Description:
The Earth Sciences department at City College of San Francisco is currently seeking to hire part-time Geology faculty to provide instruction in a broad number of areas. We primarily serve students seeking transfer degrees. Instructors can expect to work with students at various learning levels in a collaborative department environment and work on furthering the goals of the college.
Job Duties Teach one or more of the following college-level courses in the Earth Sciences Department:- Climate Change
- Environmental Geology
- Environmental Geology Lab
- Historical Geology
- Historical Geology Lab
- Physical Geology
- Physical Geology Lab
- Oceanography
- Oceanography Lab
Teach hybrid, online and/or multiple CCSF instructional sites.Perform duties associated with instruction and assessing student progress which include, but are not limited to, grading, required recordkeeping, evaluating and reporting student learning outcomes, etc.Participate in departmental functions, such as staff meetings, curriculum development, and assessment of student learning outcomes.Support and engage in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps.Participate in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism to center pedagogy.Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds (Required).Earned Master;s Degree in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences, Meteorology, Oceanography or Paleontology, from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT;ORBachelor's in Geology from an accredited institution AND Master;s in Geography, Physics, or Geochemistry from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT.[The degree major(s) posted on an applicant's transcript(s) must be exactly as listed above under the degree requirements. Otherwise applicant must claim education equivalency for the formal educational requirement. Applicants who are currently enrolled in Ph.D. programs that do not award a master's degree also need to claim education equivalency. Qualifications
Master's thesis and/or professional experience that included a field investigation.Previous demonstrated teaching experience at the college level in one or more of the following courses:Climate ChangeEnvironmental GeologyEnvironmental Geology LabHistorical GeologyHistorical Geology LabPhysical GeologyPhysical Geology LabOceanographyOceanography LabPublic outreach, professional publications, and/or other teaching experience.Demonstrated commitment to improving instruction and student assessment methodologies through professional development.Experience organizing and leading field trips and field research experiences with students.Demonstrated ability to teach students with widely varying abilities and levels of preparation.Demonstrated ability to work professionally and effectively with colleagues.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.Familiarity with and commitment to the mission and functions of a community college.Demonstrated instructional experience at the university or college level using culturally responsive pedagogy.Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of inequities in higher education and a commitment to rectifying policies and processes that restrict access for historically minoritized and disproportionately impacted students.Experience applying culturally responsive pedagogy at the university or college level.Benefits
