Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Surgery – Genome Editing Delivery Expert. UCSF Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regeneration Medicine and Stem Cell Research (Broad Center) and the Department of Surgery, University of California, San Francisco.
The UCSF Broad Center and the Department of Surgery invite applications from innovative scientists for a faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. Applicants must have a PhD, MD, and/or an equivalent degree. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a productive research background and evidence of an unusual degree of creativity.
This faculty position has been created to accelerate the clinical implementation of genome editing strategies, in conjunction with the development of an integrated Center for Genome Surgery at UCSF. A focus on development and optimization of delivery modalities, particularly non-viral tools such as lipid nanoparticles, would be advantageous to complement existing expertise in genome editing techniques and disease mechanisms across all organs.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a thriving independent research program and collaborate with other members of the stem cell and gene therapy communities at UCSF.
- Be a strong communicator with demonstrated strength in teaching and mentoring; contribute to teaching, mentoring, and training.
- Become a member of one or more UCSF graduate programs (e.g., Biomedical Sciences, Developmental and Stem Cell Biology) and participate in program governance and scholarly activities.
- Be an active participant in the Department's residency training and educational programs and contribute to resident education and medical student teaching.
- Work with laboratory space in the Regeneration Medicine Building on the Parnassus Campus; coordinate affiliations with other UCSF centers and departments as appropriate to background and research aims.
- PhD, MD, and/or an equivalent degree required.
- Evidence of research excellence in the field and a strong, productive research background.
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated strength in teaching and mentoring.
The faculty appointment will be in the School of Medicine, with a primary appointment in the Department of Surgery and a secondary appointment in the Broad Center. The position involves laboratory space in the Regeneration Medicine Building on the Parnassus Campus; affiliations with other UCSF Centers (e.g., Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences, Health Innovations Via Engineering Center) may be considered depending on the candidate’s background and research aims.
Compensationand Policies
The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step minimum base salary range for this position is $121,900 - $319,800. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. The salary and benefits comply with UC policies and applicable bargaining agreements.
