Compensation: $18.60per hour

Serra Swim school is an extension of Serra and shares the beliefs and philosophy of the high school. We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated swim instructors to join our team. Serra Swim School Instructors will be responsible for teaching swim techniques to students, ages 3-13, with varying skill levels to ensure a safe and enjoyable learning experience. No prior experience is necessary, as we provide on-the-job training/certification, but a passion for teaching and working with others is essential.
Position Summary:To operate the Junípero Serra Summer Swim School for boys and girls, ages 5-12. This would include working with instructors/lifeguards, swim school students and their parents/guardians as well as coordinating the program with other summer programs at Junípero Serra High School.
Key Responsibilities:- Teach swimming lessons to individuals and groups of varying ages and skill levels
- Provide clear instructions and demonstrations of swimming techniques
- Ensure the safety of all participants during lessons by enforcing pool rules and guidelines
- Maintain a positive, engaging, and encouraging learning environment
- Assess and track students' progress, providing feedback to help them improve
- Communicate with students, parents/guardians and supervisors regarding progress and concerns
- Follow all safety protocols and emergency procedures when necessary
- Assist with maintaining a clean and organized pool area
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and participating in training and development opportunities
- Minimum age: 16 years and over
- Prior experience working with children in educational or recreational settings preferred
- Ability to lead and supervise activities in a group setting
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with both children and adults
- Collaborative mindset and ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders
- CPR/First Aid and Lifeguard certification (complete before starting date)
- Successful completion of background check required for those over 18 years prior to starting date
