Teaching Adjunct Faculty Position

FULL TIME TEACHING ADJUNCT FACULTY POSITION
Bioengineering & Therapeutic Sciences, University of California, San Francisco

The Department of Bioengineering & Therapeutic Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) invites applications for a full‑time adjunct faculty position. One position is available in the Adjunct Professorial series (non‑tenure track). The role will focus on teaching in the new Master’s degree program in Artificial Intelligence and Computational Drug Discovery and Development (AICD3), with an emphasis on AI applications in biotechnology, computational drug discovery, and drug development research initiatives.

• Teach and provide instruction to students, including lecturing, small group facilitation, and research project advising.
• Develop and deliver AI/ML‑focused coursework and coordinate educational activities across related programs.
• Handle teaching administration tasks such as curriculum planning, developing course materials, coordinating with other instructors, proctoring, grading, and mentoring students.
• Maintain an active commitment to departmental and school educational missions, collaborating with colleagues and supporting cross‑disciplinary courses as needed.

• PhD, Pharm
  
  D, MD, combined Pharm
  
  D/PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree.
• Background in computer science or related fields such as bioengineering, drug discovery, quantitative pharmacology, pharmacometrics, pharmacokinetic‑pharmacodynamic modeling, bioinformatics, or pharmaceutical sciences.
• Experience in AI/ML application and a history of teaching in health sciences is preferred.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and mentorship skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively, commit to UCSF’s educational mission, and support relevant courses in other programs.

Base salary range: $121,900–$319,800 (subject to rank and step). For 50% effort or less, the salary range is $93,700–$246,000.
