San Francisco High School of the Arts (HSArts) is seeking an enthusiastic and inspiring Part-Time DECA Advisor & Business Teacher to join our faculty.

We are looking for an educator who can help students explore entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, business management, and leadership through engaging instruction and participation in DECA, one of the nation's premier business and career development organizations.

About the Role

This position combines business education with leadership development through DECA. The successful candidate will teach business-related coursework and mentor students as they prepare for DECA conferences, competitions, and leadership opportunities.

Responsibilities Business Education
  • Teach one or more high school courses in areas such as:
    • Entrepreneurship
    • Business Principles
    • Marketing
    • Financial Literacy
    • Economics
    • Personal Finance
  • Design engaging, project‑based learning experiences that connect classroom concepts to real-world business challenges.
  • Encourage creativity, innovation, communication, and problem‑solving.
DECA Leadership
  • Serve as advisor for the HSArts DECA chapter.
  • Recruit, mentor, and prepare students for DECA competitions and conferences.
  • Coach students in business presentations, case studies, entrepreneurship events, and leadership activities.
  • Help students develop professionalism, teamwork, public speaking, and leadership skills.
  • Coordinate competition registration, travel, and chapter activities.
Qualifications
  • Valid California teaching credential with authorization to teach business‑related subjects, or eligibility to teach business education courses.
  • Experience teaching business, entrepreneurship, economics, marketing, or related subjects preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Passion for mentoring students and helping them discover their interests and talents.
Preferred
  • Experience with DECA, FBLA, or similar student organizations.
  • Background in business, entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, or management.
  • Experience coaching student competitions or leadership programs.
