Under the supervision of the Youth Program Director, the Assistant Site Coordinator supports the daily operations, program implementation, and development of youth and staff at the after-school program site. This role assists in maintaining a high-quality program that fosters learning, creativity, and positive youth development. The Assistant Site Coordinator helps ensure a safe, welcoming environment for all participants while building positive relationships with youth, families, and school administration.
This position requires stepping into direct program delivery as needed and supporting compliance with the Youth Development Principles of the YMCA of Greater San Francisco.

- Assist the Site Coordinator in managing daily program operations, including schedules and activities.
- Support the planning and delivery of academic, enrichment, and recreational activities for youth.
- Maintain program spaces, ensuring they are clean, safe, and accessible.
- Ensure the safety and supervision of children, maintaining appropriate child-to-staff ratios (up to 20:1); step into ratio coverage as needed.
- Support training, coaching, and development of after-school staff.
- Assist in monitoring program quality and implementing improvement strategies using tools like the ExCel Quality Action Plan (QAP).
- Build and maintain positive relationships with school staff, families, and community partners.
- Communicate with families to share student progress and address concerns.
- Support student outreach, registration, and enrollment strategies.
- Help track attendance and prepare timely program reports, including snack distribution and compliance documentation.
- Assist with YMCA fundraising efforts, including the YMCA’s Giving Campaign.
- Uphold all YMCA, district, and grant program policies and requirements.
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- High School diploma/equivalent and any of the following:
- Completion of 48 college units.
- Passed CA Basic Education Skills Test (CBEST).
- Passed District Instructional Aide Exam.
- Availability Monday through Friday during program operations. This position is expected to be onsite and available for the full duration of the after-school program each scheduled day, from program start through program close. Occasional weekend hours may be required based on program needs.
- 2+ years of experience working in youth programs.
- TB test clearance within the last 2 years.
- Associate’s or bachelor's degree (Education or related field).
