Position: Preschool Teaching Positions

The JCCSF is seeking experienced and enthusiastic early childhood educators to join our outstanding team at each of our three preschools. Staff work in teams leading children ages 2-5 years old in a play‑based setting inspired by the values of Reggio‑Emilia and Jewish learning. We are currently hiring for Teachers and Associate Teachers.

The JCCSF has three preschools located in the Laurel Heights and Inglewood (near SFSU) neighborhood.

Salary

Teacher = $31.17 - $33.70
Associate Teacher = $26.19 - 27.98
Salary determined based on total years of experience, education level, and ECE units

Position Duties & Requirements Teacher Description
  • Collaborate with classroom teaching team to prepare and implement curriculum
  • Ensure that environment is set up appropriately and effectively
  • Responsible for curriculum design and facilitation of long‑term projects
  • Responsible for creating documentation for walls and online, portfolios, and child assessments
  • Work with classroom team on daily parent communication and conferences
  • Provide mentorship for Assistant and Associate Teachers
Requirements
  • BA degree preferred in Early Childhood or related field
  • 12 units in Early Childhood Education/CD including core courses; preferred staff continue ECE education to complete 24 units
  • Minimum of 2 years’ teaching experience in a Reggio‑Inspired and/or Jewish preschool
  • Proficiency of verbal and written communication and technology
Associate Teacher Description
  • Collaborate with classroom teaching team to prepare and implement curriculum and an appropriate environment
  • Share responsibility for documentation, online documentation, portfolios and parent conference prep
  • Communicate with families in collaboration with teaching team
Requirements
  • BA degree in Early Childhood or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 12 units in Early Childhood Education including core courses
  • 0‑2 years’ experience in a preschool classroom
  • Knowledge of Reggio Emilia preferred
  • Proficiency of verbal and written communication and technology
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds to perform duties such as lifting cots, assisting children onto changing tables, and lifting or carrying children in emergency situations.
  • Approximately 50% of the job is performed while standing.
  • Approximately 50% of the job is performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Teachers are expected to participate in neighborhood walks, whether planned or spontaneous, for distances of up to 2 miles round trip and lasting up to 2 hours.
  • Must be able to squat or kneel to work at children’s eye level.
  • Must be able to move quickly throughout the classroom and outdoor environments to safely supervise children.
  • Supervision of children requires frequent bending, twisting, and rapid movement in response to children’s needs, particularly regarding safety and well‑being.
  • Must be able to rise easily from a seated position.
