Role Overview
The Director of After school & Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (DA-ELOP) is a key member of the CACS leadership team, overseeing all aspects of the school's after school, expanded learning, and summer programming. This position provides strategic leadership for program design, staff supervision, family engagement, operations, budgeting, and community partnerships while ensuring safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate programming for students in grades TK–8.
The Director of After school & Expanded Learning Opportunities Program serves as an important bridge between the instructional day and expanded learning programs, collaborating closely with school leaders, teachers, families, and community partners to create a seamless student experience while advancing the mission and values of Creative Arts Charter School.
The ideal candidate is both a strategic leader and a hands-on manager, someone who enjoys building systems, developing people, and being actively present with students, staff, and families each day. This role requires balancing big-picture planning with the day-to-day leadership needed to cultivate a joyful, inclusive, and high-quality expanded learning program.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Program Leadership- Provide strategic leadership for all after school, expanded learning, and summer programming.
- Design engaging, developmentally appropriate programming for students in grades TK–8.
- Develop Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer intersessions that include enrichment, literacy support, academic intervention, homework assistance, recreation, and structured play.
- Ensure all Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) requirements, policies, and safety standards are met.
- Develop innovative programming that increases student engagement, enrollment, and long-term program sustainability.
- Hire, supervise, coach, mentor, evaluate, and support after school staff.
- Foster a collaborative, positive, and accountable team culture.
- Plan and facilitate staff meetings, onboarding, and ongoing professional development.
- Maintain a visible presence during program hours and provide leadership in daily operations.
- Support staff with behavior management, restorative practices, and student engagement strategies.
- Create safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments where every student feels connected and supported.
- Collaborate with school-day leadership to ensure consistent expectations, restorative responses, student supports, and family communication.
- Support positive student behavior through restorative practices and relationship-centered approaches.
- Ensure programming reflects CACS's commitment to creativity, equity, inclusion, and student voice.
- Organize special events and enrichment opportunities that strengthen school culture and community.
- Build strong partnerships with families through proactive communication and responsive support.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations and enrichment providers.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families regarding after school and expanded learning programs.
- Collaborate with school leadership to ensure seamless communication between the school day and expanded learning programs.
- Oversee enrollment, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and daily program operations.
- Manage program budgets and monitor revenue and expenses to support financial sustainability.
- Maintain accurate student records and program documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and ELOP requirements.
- Utilize technology and data systems to support efficient program management and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate regularly with the Leadership Team to align expanded learning programming with school-wide goals.
- Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Experience leading an after school, expanded learning, or school-age program.
- Experience supervising, coaching, and evaluating a team.
- Experience managing program budgets and operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
