Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Instructional Aide (A01)

Job Class: Instruction Aide TK (A01)

Salary Range: $34.25-$45.54 hourly

Location: Multiple Sites

Calendar: Part Time / School Year

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assist the teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate, play‑based instruction aligned with early learning standards
• Support small group and individual instruction in early literacy, language development, foundational math, and social‑emotional skills
• Help explain concepts, guide learning activities, and reinforce lessons through hands‑on experiences
• Prepare, organize, and maintain instructional materials, supplies, and classroom learning environments
• Observe and support student progress; assist with documentation and maintaining student work samples or portfolios
• Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, outdoor play, meals, and field trips to ensure safety and appropriate behavior
• Support positive behavior using consistent, non‑punitive strategies aligned with classroom and school expectations
• Assist with snack and meal preparation and supervision
• Support daily routines, including restroom supervision and classroom setup/cleanup
• Monitor common areas (e.g., yard, cafeteria, hallways) as assigned
• Provide basic first aid as needed and report injuries or concerns to appropriate staff
• Assist with communication with families and support a welcoming classroom environment
• Maintain records related to attendance, materials, and classroom activities
• Perform other related duties as assigned

• Educational Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent AND passed District Instructional Aide Exam; OR
  • High school diploma or equivalent AND passed CBEST; OR
  • High school diploma or equivalent AND 48 college units (official transcripts required); OR
  • Associate's degree or higher

• Completion of six (6) semester units of Early Childhood Education (ECE), preferred
• Experience working with young children in an educational setting
• Bilingual skills (e.g., Cantonese or Spanish) desirable
