The Role
We are looking for experienced youth development workers to be available to join our after school program team. Reporting to the Extended Program Director, the substitute instructor is responsible for supervising students in grades K – 8 and supporting the operation of the program. Standard work hours would be 2pm-6pm. There are opportunities to also step in to sub in classrooms based on a flexible on-call basis and staff vacation camps.
This is a unique opportunity that would allow instructors to increase their hours in a way that works best for their daily schedules. The primary job duties for the position are listed below, but include other duties assigned by the employee's supervisor or manager.
- High School
- Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent preferred
- Experience teaching or leading youth activities and excellent classroom management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills as well as a great sense of humor.
- Demonstrate the ability to take initiative, work passionately and joyfully, and collaborate effectively with colleagues, students and parents.
- Express the desire and ability to take on increasing responsibility in the classroom and the CDS community, and to participate generously.
- Strong commitment to building a learning community where the people, culture and curriculum reflect the racial, ethnic, economic and family diversity of San Francisco.
- Possess dynamic problem-solving and communication skills.
- Be proficient in technology: email, word processing, photos, etc.
$22.50 - $27.00/hr - depending on education and experience
