Job Goal:
To enable students, through playground leadership, to enjoy the group interaction and physical exercise which are an integral part of the district educational program.

Essential Duties

As the Noon Monitor/Playground Aide, you will:

  • Noon Monitors transport students from one destination to the next safely on school grounds
  • Supervise students at playtime and maintain a harmonious atmosphere on the playground
  • Organize group games and activities
  • Supervise lunch recesses in the cafeteria and in the school yard
  • Assist students in wellness rooms
  • Assist in restorative conversations and in response to students in crisis
  • Walk around the yards as much as possible and take precautionary steps to help children resolve conflicts using intervention strategies, such as benching
  • Send students to the office for medical attention or in serious discipline situations
  • Perform other job duties as requested by site administration

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Prior experience working with children or students under the supervision of classroom teachers, site managers or school principals
Additional Qualifications
  • Knowledge of San Francisco’s public schools/urban public schools and a passionate belief in SFUSD’s commitment to instructional leadership as a lever toward delivering on the SFUSD Graduate Profile
  • Strong analytics and systems thinking necessary to interpret data to inform goals and strategy, as well as build infrastructure where none exists
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple functions and roles within a complex organization
