About the Organization
Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center (TEL HI) is a nonprofit organization which provides services and advocacy for residents of northeast San Francisco. Founded in 1890 by Alice Griffith and Elizabeth Ashe, TEL HI provides opportunities for individuals and families to enrich their quality of life. Focusing on low to moderate income children, youth, families, and seniors, we create and strengthen community bonds, provide health and wellness programs, and broaden education and cultural experiences.
Program services include but are not limited to:
Infant Program (3-19 months), Toddler Program (19-36 months), Preschool (2 ½ to 5 years), After School Academy (K-5th grade), Francisco Middle School Program (6th-8th grades), North Beach Chinatown Beacon Center, Youth Employment Services (YES), Senior Programs and Community Organizing.
Position Summary
POSITION:
Preschool Teacher.
Reports to:
Head Teacher/Education Coordinator/ECE Program Director. Salary:
Up to $25 per hour;
Based on Education, Permit Level and Experience. Benefits:

Work schedule:
40 Hours per Week Monday through Friday and additional time as required.
Position Requirements Associate Teacher or Teacher Permit, AA degree in ECE, and a minimum of 2-3 years of full-time experience in a classroom setting.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain positive relationships with families, children and coworkers.Establish predictable, consistent care‑giving routines, implementing family style at each meal.Nurture social‑emotional growth and socialization (Teaching Pyramid Training desired).Interacts with children in a warm and positive manner and is able to develop their trust and rapport.Foster cognitive development, language development, and communication with children on daily basis.Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs and interests of each child.Provide educational activities for children across the general areas of gross and fine motor, imitation, social responsiveness, exploration, self‑help, competence, and language, emotional and perceptual cognitive development using daily/weekly activity plans or individual program plans.Prepare daily learning areas that meet the standards of ITERS, CLASS and Project Approach.Develops and provides inclusive, developmentally and culturally appropriate activities.Design the display for children's work and rotate displays on a regular basis.In the absence of the Head Teacher, serve as the primary contact person for parents on matters relating to their child's development and progress in the preschool.Observe and conduct children’s observation through DRDPs/Portfolios and discuss with staff and parents.Record meal count at each serving point; 3 times per day on 1
Core App, COCOA system and hard copy.Develop, maintain, and review a daily system of classroom communication to staff and parents to ensure clarity and consistency.Lead the classroom teacher assistant, floater and volunteers in creating a warm, nurturing, and respectful atmosphere for the children to be encouraged to learn and grow.Create, support and promote a team environment by encouraging and facilitating problem solving.Works with classroom staff to set goals and implement methods for improving classroom functioning.Prepare and set up materials, a safe indoor and outdoor environment.Organize all equipment storage areas and maintain educational supplies and equipment.Maintain cleanliness of all inside and outside classroom areas.Practices and ensures that food service guidelines, including nutritional components of meals served, meet all established written plans.Assist in the monitoring of all licensing requirements and, when directed by your supervisor, take action to ensure requirements are met.Be able to bend and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.Additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.Job Type
