Computer Instructor

Responsible for teaching seniors to use computers, smart devices, and the Internet at SF Connected Technology Labs throughout San Francisco and through virtual programming.

Conducts training and workshops for seniors to learn to use computers, smart devices, and the Internet safely; answers computer and technology-related questions.

Conducts classroom-style lectures with groups of students as needed.

Prepares and maintains lab area, equipment, materials for training and workshops, and lab or virtual programming preparation.

Operates and maintains audiovisual equipment; maintains computers in the lab; and assists students with using hardware and software.

Maintains training and workshop schedules and attendance records.

Assists with client outreach to meet the program's goals.

Maintains assigned client list for submittal to the clientele database.

Attends meetings and training as assigned.

Responds to and acknowledges emails and notices promptly.

Participates in the Quality Assurance protocols as directed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Must have a high school diploma; teaching and training experience preferred.

Current working knowledge of PC technology/equipment, smartphones, tablet computers, MS Office software applications, the Internet, online communication, and social media platforms.

Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work with older adults and individuals from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to effectively instruct senior learners on basic computer use and online programs using PC platforms or other personal computing devices.

Bilingual and bi-literate in English and Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin), Russian, or Spanish is preferred.

Must be available to work at least three days a week.

Must be self-motivated, patient, detail-oriented, and able to follow through.

Must be able to travel via public transportation or personal/department vehicle to perform job duties. If driving, must have and maintain a valid CA driver license, satisfactory driving record, and auto insurance coverage as specified in Self-Help's policy.
