ResponsibilitiesWhile working in a classroom, under the supervision of a teacher/administrator, assists in the direct delivery of instruction in a classroom setting with pupils with special needs based on their IEP. The primary objective is to affect learning for mastery by implementing both developmental and remedial methods in basic skill areas and content areas. The employee assists certificated staff by implementing lesson plans, participating in parent conferences, proctoring examinations, keeping relevant records, operating instructional equipment, and performing related duties as required.
Some positions may require conversational and written skills in a specific language(s) other than English related to the needs of the assignment. An ability to translate and adapt materials to and from English into that language(s) may also be required.
Some positions may require a certificate of clearance from the Department of Motor Vehicles in order to meet District insurability.
Distinguishing CharacteristicsUnder direction of the Director of Operations and Special Projects, the employee provides supervision during the bus ride for pupils with severely impairing conditions before and after school between San Francisco and various Non-Public School (NPS) sites. They will be transported to a midday assignment in an SFUSD public school for a minimum of 2 hours daily. Responsibilities include implementing portions of the IEP (including behavior support plan and goals) and may include heavy lifting.
The position requires close attention to student and their surroundings. The position is for a minimum of 7 hours per day, 5 days per week.
Employee will be required to provide proof of the following:
- Commitment to successfully complete the American Red Cross Standard First Aid and American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation trainings within 90 days, if the candidate is not already in possession of valid certificates
