Hours:
Part-time, 4‑5 hours per day. Compensation: $19 – $32 hourly.

The Exploremos after‑school program instructor provides exciting and enriching opportunities for youth at New School San Francisco, an inquiry‑based public charter school. We are looking for talented individuals who will provide academic support, enriching program activities, and help to foster an environment where kindergarten through 2nd grade students can be themselves. We encourage our instructors to bring their identities, interests, and passions to our program.
Every instructor helps us create high‑quality, age‑appropriate, engaging after‑school programming that parents have loved for the past eight years. Our program mirrors the school day and supports a positive inquiry and equity‑focused culture.
- Provide academic support and enriching program activities for kindergarten through 2nd grade students.
- Lead thematically based enrichment in small groups of 12‑20 students, focusing on S.T.E.A.M., arts, community building, healthy eating, and physical movement.
- Help students work collaboratively, problem‑solve, share ideas, and make each day memorable.
- Demonstrate punctuality, professionalism, and commitment throughout the entire school year.
- Work under the supervision of the Director of Extended Learning & Enrichment.
- High school degree or equivalent
- Ability to create engaging and diverse activities for children ages 5‑12 based on a specific theme (e.g., cooking, sewing, dancing, etc.)
- Experience working with children in an out‑of‑school program (summer camp, after‑school, tutoring, etc.)
- Ability to quickly build loving rapport with children from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent organization, time management and follow‑up skills
- Strong customer service skill set
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members and parents
- Ability to respond quickly and thoughtfully to critical incidents
- Deep commitment to equitable teaching and learning
- Must clear FBI and local background checks, as well as a negative TB test
