Job Summary
Teach HLTH 210:
Community Birth Worker/Doula Education, a credit course that prepares students for Doula certification and fulfills an elective in the Community Health Worker Program. The role involves classroom instruction, curriculum development, and student assessment from a community wisdom, strengths‑based, reproductive justice framework.
Position Type:
Faculty – Part‑Time Pool (temporary). Salary per city schedule: $92.72 – $163.69 per hour.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, varying orientations, and diverse backgrounds.
- Earned Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution plus two years of professional experience directly related to the assignment; or equivalent.
- Earned Associate Degree from an accredited institution plus six years of professional experience related to the assignment; or equivalent.
- Possession of a fully satisfied California Community College Instructor Credential in Health and Physical Care Services and Related Technologies (if applicable).
- Understanding of racial, socioeconomic, academic, and cultural diversity among community college students, including those with different ability statuses.
- Experience teaching childbirth education courses in birth centers, community clinics, or other settings with diverse communities.
- Experience teaching from a community‑wisdom, strengths‑based, reproductive justice framework.
- Current Doula certification or other childbirth education credentials.
- At least two years related professional experience in the childbirth education field with communities experiencing adverse birth outcomes.
- Teaching or training experience in public health and/or behavioral health/community health/social services using culturally responsive pedagogy.
- Ability to motivate learners from diverse backgrounds, especially non‑traditional and under‑represented students.
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
- Proof of successful instructional experience at the university or college level.
- Experience with inequities in higher education and a commitment to correcting policies that restrict access for historically minoritized students.
