Newcomer Service Site Coordinator — Full Time, San Francisco, CA

Position Summary

The Latinx & Newcomer Services Site Coordinator will support Latinx and newcomer students and families in SFUSD schools. The role works with school staff and community partners to coordinate and deliver essential support services, including academic coaching, individualized learning plans, one-on-one coaching, and classroom/community collaborations. The coordinator will promote equity, self-advocacy, positive cultural identity formation, healthy behaviors, and self-care, approaching education and support services as a matter of social justice and in the best interests of the students and families served.

This position plans and coordinates the service strategy as follows: direct services delivery to students and families at school sites (75%), coordinating and implementing a summer camp (15%), and developing the implementation of community events, workshops, and trainings (10%).

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and ongoing delivery of support services to meet the needs of Latinx and newcomer students and families.
  • Provide one-on-one student success coaching and develop individualized learning plans.
  • Facilitate and manage group and individual tutoring, literacy intervention support, and/or study hall sessions.
  • Facilitate and manage group and/or individual parent and family workshops.
  • Deliver Good Sam Latinx & Newcomer Services programming with fidelity and in alignment with Good Sam’s mission and vision.
  • Communicate and outreach to students and families in collaboration with SFUSD personnel at sites.
  • Develop safe, trusting, nurturing, supportive, and collaborative relationships with clients, community partners, and SFUSD faculty.
  • Participate in meetings at the agency, school sites, and multi-agency partners to set goals and interventions for students and families.
  • Collaborate with Good Samaritan staff to develop and implement relevant services addressing student and family needs.
Administrative
  • Create and maintain curricula for all classes and groups taught.
  • Create and maintain a monthly calendar of student- and family-centric events.
  • Maintain and report attendance, surveys, and other metrics to document impact.
  • Work with Program Manager and Director of Development to complete program proposals, reports, and information requests.
  • Prepare and present monthly narrative and quantitative reports documenting programs and services.
  • Ensure maintenance of registrations/intakes, consent forms, and other administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with community-based organizations to strengthen services for students.
  • Coordinate ongoing communication and feedback with participants, families, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in staff and related committee meetings and trainings.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and either passed SFUSD District Instructional Aide Exam, or passed CBEST, or 48 college units (official transcripts required), or an Associate Degree or higher.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders including school personnel, parents, and students.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting local San Francisco students and families.
