Position Summary

Whitewater University of California (WUC) is a nonprofit graduate institution accredited by ACCSC and approved by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) and the California Acupuncture Board (CAB). WUC seeks a qualified Part-Time Librarian to serve as the institution's Librarian of Record. The librarian will oversee library policies and services, support faculty and students with research and reference assistance, and contribute to compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements.

• Serve as the Librarian of Record for WUC.
• Maintain and update library policies, procedures, and operational documentation.
• Provide library orientation and training for students, faculty, and staff.
• Monitor and respond to research and reference questions submitted through the university's "Ask a Librarian" service in a timely manner.
• Assist users with accessing electronic resources, databases, and online library services.
• Maintain records related to library services, training activities, and resource usage as needed for institutional reporting and accreditation.
• Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to support curriculum and research needs.
• Recommend improvements to library resources and services to support student learning outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library Science (MLS), Library and Information Science (MLIS), or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional library experience, preferably in a college, university, or academic library setting.
• Experience providing research/reference services and library instruction or user training.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities remotely with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with online library databases, electronic resources, and common productivity software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience serving as a Librarian of Record or supporting institutional accreditation.
• Familiarity with distance education and online learning environments.
• Knowledge of ACCSC, BPPE, ACAHM, CAB, or other higher education accreditation and regulatory requirements.
• Experience supporting health sciences, traditional Chinese medicine, or graduate-level academic programs.

Compensation

Compensation will be based on qualifications, experience, and agreed-upon workload. This is a part-time contract position and does not include employee benefits.
