Position: Assistant/Associate/ Full Professor - In Residence and Adjunct Series

Position Overview

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), in partnership with the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies (IHPS), is inviting applications for full-time faculty positions at any rank within the In Residence and Adjunct faculty series.

UCSF hosts the largest epidemiology department in the California system, offering a collaborative academic environment and opportunities for teaching within the Master’s Degree in Clinical Research, the Doctoral Program in Epidemiology and Translational Science, and other training initiatives. IHPS is an organized research unit dedicated to improving health through evidence‑informed policy. Our interdisciplinary team spans over 200 affiliated faculty, trainees, and staff across a wide array of disciplines, enabling rich collaboration and interdisciplinary research.

Qualifications
  • Doctorate in health services research, health economics, sociology, political science, anthropology, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in original research in health services, health policy, or a related area appropriate to the candidate’s experience.
  • Strong teaching and service record.
  • Record of securing extramural and self‑generated funding (e.g., NIH, AHRQ, foundations, government contracts). Current or recently awarded extramural funding is required.
  • The In Residence series requires full funding and excellent teaching and service qualifications.
Responsibilities

The successful candidates will conduct health services and health policy research funded by extramural sources and will be committed to teaching, mentoring, service, and policy translation. Preference will be given to scholars whose research aligns with current departmental programs and demonstrates a proven track record of independent research and associated funding.

Administrative Details

The position will be administratively based  appointments 51% effort or more, the minimum base salary range is $121,900–$319,800, with additional compensation eligibility through the health sciences compensation plan. For appointments 50% effort or less, the estimated salary range is $93,700–$246,000.
