PositionDescription
Under the direction of the Site Manager, the After school Program Assistant provides administrative support to the after school program and leads opportunities for students to develop academic, leadership, and physical skills.
- Support the Site Coordinator with daily logistics and operations, such as preparing snacks, collecting attendance, entering records into the database, and calling families.
- Plan, organize, and execute on‑site events and activities.
- Model positive relationships and ensure youth safety, supporting transitions and escorting youth from homework to enrichment classes.
- Provide daily homework help alongside school‑day teachers.
- Collect daily homework assignments from school staff and assist teachers with discipline techniques and classroom management.
- Participate in trainings, grade‑level meetings, and school site staff meetings.
- Evaluate program activities and event effectiveness, communicating results to the Site Manager.
- Maintain a professional attitude, work ethic, and effective communication with parents, teachers, and school staff.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Passion for Jamestown’s mission and commitment to high‑quality youth development.
- Two or more years of experience working with multi‑ethnic, multi‑cultural elementary school youth.
- Strong understanding of youth development theory and practice.
- Strong elementary and middle school‑level math and literacy skills.
- Ability to build meaningful relationships and engage students.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Flexible, initiative‑driven, and comfortable working with diverse stakeholders.
- Availability during after‑school hours.
- Willingness to act as a role model for young people.
- Two years of college credits or equivalent experience preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred.
- Provide documentation that meets or will meet SFUSD Instructional Aid requirements or complete the equivalency exam.
- Lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Work in a 100% in‑person, standard office environment within a school campus.
- Regular use of computer, phone, copier, and standard office equipment.
- Fingerprint and TB clearance required upon hire.
