ScheduleUp to 10 hours per programming week, 9:00–4:00PM (Select Saturdays – see dates below)
Position OverviewInstructors join SEO’s community of educators to implement a rigorous college‑prep curriculum for motivated high‑school Scholars. Using our original curriculum and a student‑centered approach, instructors support Scholars’ journey toward competitive college admissions and beyond, promote depth of understanding, and facilitate learning.
Key Responsibilities- Teach four periods of Math instructional content per week.
- Follow lesson plans and meet SEO’s rigorous instruction criteria and student engagement objectives.
- Apply protocols for student‑driven discussion, group work, and questioning to promote mastery.
- Utilize instructional technologies (Brightspace, Nearpod, GSuit, Zoom chat) in a blended learning environment.
- Prepare by reviewing and practicing all lesson plans before teaching.
- Adjust pacing and activities to meet specific student needs.
- Calculate grades per rubrics, provide growth‑oriented feedback, and maintain the Brightspace gradebook with a one‑week turnaround.
- Project an energetic, engaging, and approachable classroom culture.
- Attend scheduled meetings, professional development sessions, check‑ins, and respond to communications promptly.
- Meet with an assigned instructional coach at least twice during the semester to receive and implement feedback.
- 10th Math:
Pattern and Structure – Students explore algebraic and geometric concepts, building on numbers, operations, algebraic representation, functions, and the logic underlying algebraic manipulation and geometry. - 11th Math: SAT Math Fundamentals – Students apply heuristic problem‑solving strategies and Desmos calculator techniques to succeed on the SAT, building on prior SEO math curriculum.
- Instructor Orientation – September 9, 4:30–7:00PM on Zoom
- On‑Site Kick‑Off – Saturday, 9/12, 9:00AM‑12:00
Noon - Saturday Academy – 9/19, 9/26
