Elementary School, Art / Design Teacher
Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking a Lower School Art and STEM Teacher starting in Fall 2026 at an independent school in San Francisco, CA.
Note:
This is a long-term substitute position with a start date in August and a projected end date in mid-October.

- Teach Visual Arts and STEM classes to lower school students.
- Design and implement hands-on, developmentally appropriate, inquiry-based art experiences that foster creativity, exploration, and critical thinking.
- Guide students through creative exploration through drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and mixed media.
- Incorporate maker exploration through hands-on lessons, encouraging students to experiment with varied materials, construct 3D forms, and embrace creative problem-solving.
- Design curriculum that prioritizes the creative process for students encouraging curiosity, experimentation, sensory discovery, and motor-skill development.
- Evaluate each student’s progress in their knowledge and skills.
- Communicate with parents to discuss the individual student’s progress.
- Participate in grade, division, and full faculty meetings as required.
- Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars, conferences, and professional development sessions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Art Education, or Art field required. Master's degree strongly preferred.
- Previous experience teaching visual arts of STEM courses for lower school students.
- Knowledge of varied teaching strategies to differentiate learning.
- Eager to work collaboratively with other teachers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- U.S. Work Authorization required.
- Desire to be involved in school-wide initiatives and extracurricular activities.
Compensation and benefit packages are competitive but will differ by school and will typically depend on geographic location, your experience, and your level of degree.
