Access Institute is home to a rigorous,nationally renownedpsychoanalytictraining program for predoctoral interns and post-graduate fellows. Trainees receive extensive in-personsupervision while gainingclinicalexperienceandengaging in arich didacticeducationprogram thatintegratespsychodynamic theory, sociocultural awareness, and community service.
Position OverviewAccess Instituteseeksa dynamic and passionate individual to join its clinical team as an In-school
Psychotherapist (ISP). The ISPprovides mental health services, consultation, and support for staff at oneK-8
SFUSD elementary school, with two campuses (near Pacific Heights/Marina districts).These services include individual play therapy on-site, and consultation to parents, teachers, and school stafftosupporthealthy relationships with children dealing with trauma and diverse mental health needs. The ISPmust be available towork on-site atthe schooltwo days perweek.
The two service days are flexible
Tuesday-Friday, butdaysmust remain consistent for the duration of the school year.
Job Duties:
- Provide1:1mental health supporttoup to 8children, up to 4 sessions per day(8 hours)
- Maintain patient charts(1hour)
- Provide education, consultation, and support toparents and caregivers(1 hour)
- Collaborate and consult withschoolstaff, including:(1 hour)
- Classroom observation and feedbackforteachers
- Consultation and ongoing communicationeducators, staff,andotherservice providers;
- Participation inschoolmeetings, as requested
- Assistin the collection of data on program effectiveness by administeringbriefsurveys to teachers and caregivers at the beginning and end of the school year.
- Weeklysupervision withfully licensed Staff Psychotherapist & In-School Mental Health Program Manager (1 hour)
- Demonstrated commitment to Access Institute’s mission
- Experience providing mental health care to children;priorexperienceworking inaschool-based settings a plus
- Strong communicationandrelationship-building skills
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills
