Under supervision of a teacher/administrator, assists in the direct delivery of instruction in a classroom setting. The primary objective of such assistance is to affect learning for mastery by implementing both developmental and remedial methods in basic skill areas and content areas. The employee assists certificated staff by: implementing lesson plans (activities which include reviewing and correcting the work of pupils), participating in parent conferences, proctoring examinations, keeping relevant records, operating instructional equipment in appropriate instructional settings, as well as performing related duties as required.

Employee works with pupils at the secondary level (middle and high school grades) under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher. The focus of the curriculum is the subject areas of mathematics and science. The mathematics skills and their applications range from a simple arithmetic to algebra, trigonometry, or geometry depending on the grade level or type of class. The science skills range from applied science, biology, chemistry or physics depending on the grade level or type of science class.

Utilizes knowledge appropriate to satisfy the Distinguishing Characteristics of the class listed above, examples of which may include familiarity with teaching methods, instructional media, test scoring, school organization, and school rules and regulations.
