Essential DutiesThe duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to the job code/class and are not intended to be an inclusive or exhaustive list.
As the Adapted PE Teacher, you will:
- Instruct students in the development of skills and knowledge that enables them to participate independently to the highest degree possible, based on assessment needs.
- Provide consultation and support services including in-service training to regular education and special education teachers, school personnel and peers concerning Adapted Physical Education needs and appropriate methods of adaptation for the student that will foster maximum independence and safety.
- Works with members of the IEP team (i.e.
- speech, occupational, physical, orientation and mobility and vision specialists) to provide a functional and meaningful program. - Create a program geared to the assessed needs, goals and objectives, functional levels and motivational levels of the student.
- Prepare and utilize equipment and materials for the development of skills as it is related to Adapted Physical Education (i.e.
- beeper balls, sponge balls, etc). - Conduct assessments which focus on both long term and short term needs of the student.
- Knowledge of San Francisco’s public schools/urban public schools and a passionate belief in SFUSD’s commitment to instructional leadership as a lever toward delivering on the SFUSD Graduate Profile
- Strong analytics and systems thinking necessary to interpret data to inform goals and strategy, as well as build infrastructure where none exists
