The Workforce Development Division of the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) serves San Francisco jobseekers and local employers. OEWD strives to ensure that San Francisco has a qualified workforce that attracts, retains and expands industries, and maximizes employment opportunities for local residents through comprehensive training initiatives and services to ensure that no community member is left behind when it comes to the chance to go to work and succeed.

City Build, an initiative under the Workforce Division is seeking an Academy Coordinator. City Build prepares San Franciscans for career opportunities in the City Build industry through two distinct sets of training programs:

• City Build Pre-Apprenticeship City Build Training Programs – Intensive hands‑on programs that provide San Francisco residents with the foundational knowledge, skills, and support to enter careers in the City Build trades and succeed as new apprentices. The nationally‑recognized City Build Academy is the flagship of the City Build pre‑apprenticeship network, which also includes tailored trainings based on particular needs of jobseekers, projects, and the City Build industry based on the AFL-CIO Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3).
• City Build Administration Training Programs – Courses that prepare San Francisco residents for a career in Administration and Professional Services in the back‑offices of City Build Industry employers.

City Build provides ongoing assistance to City Build graduates, local jobseekers, and City Build employers through its Employment Network Services program (ENS), which includes providing information on applicable local hiring policies and making referrals in partnership with local hiring halls to assist contractors with meeting their local hiring requirements.

Appointment Type:
Permanent Exempt (PEX ) Appointment. This position is excluded by the Charter from the competitive civil service examination process and shall serve at the discretion of the appointing officer.

Under direction, the Academy Coordinator performs professional technical duties in the area of construction employment and training, which includes employer engagement-job development, trades skills assessment, project monitoring, program evaluation, and staff supervision as directed.
