Education ​/ Teaching Instructor, Adult & Continuing Education

OVERVIEW:

The Business Operations Instructor will report to the Lead Business Operations Instructor and will teach foundational concepts related to our Business Career Pathway curriculum. Your role involves facilitating practical, experience-based learning that equips students with essential competencies and skills to succeed in business settings, emphasizing peer learning and self-driven curiosity. This role is a key member of the academic team and may be expected to take on additional academic projects.

To succeed in this role, you'll bring a passion for education, classroom experience, and diverse knowledge of business operations and project management, Microsoft Office, artificial intelligence, and data-based business decisions and their application in the workplace. You're someone who finds satisfaction in facilitating creative, interactive lessons and serving as an advisor and coach to our young adults. You will also have the opportunity to interact with students as a mentor, group facilitator, and advocate, contributing to building a positive educational environment.

• Instruction:
  Deliver course content and ensure students gain hands-on experience and develop the relevant skills.
• Practical Application:
  Use community conversations and projects to deepen understanding of business operations and teamwork.
• LMS Management:
  Track student progress, feedback, and grades via the Learning Management System (LMS).
• Classroom Management:
  Foster an engaging and respectful learning environment.
• Feedback & Evaluation:
  Provide formal and informal feedback, helping students self-assess their progress.
• Assessment:
  Measure learning and growth of Year Up United students and ensure successful transition to corporate internships.
• Individualized Support:
  Provide office hours and 1:1 tutoring to students.

• Serve as a coach/mentor for a small number of current students
• Join and sometimes facilitate weekly group sessions with students
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings
• Support learning community activities in person three (3) days per week at designated site location

• Professional Development:
  Engage in ongoing professional growth activities, such as workshops, conferences, or certifications, to enhance knowledge and skills relevant to the role.

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Business Administration or related field
• 1-3 years of experience as an educator, facilitator, or practitioner required
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, with working knowledge of business operations and project management concepts and tools
• Experience teaching or working with youth preferred
• Experience with eLearning, computer-based teaching, and blended learning approaches
• Interest in adopting innovative teaching methodologies and creating an interactive, hands-on learning environment
• Excellent communication skills, strong teamwork skills, and mature interpersonal style and the ability to interact with a diverse range of people
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work under strict deadlines
• Experience with curriculum, syllabus development, student assessment, and lesson planning
• General proficiency with Learning Management Systems (i.e. Bright Space, Canvas, etc.)
• A passion for working with young adults, an unshakable belief in their potential, and a strong commitment to the mission of Year Up United

Salary Range: $72,000-$87,000

Starting January 5, 2026, employees are expected to work on-site at least two days per week (Monday through Thursday dependent on job requirements).
