Essential Duties

The duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to the job and are not intended to be an inclusive or exhaustive list.

As the Assistant Principal, you will assist the Principal in the management and supervision of a school. You will report to the Principal and provide educational leadership, assist in the selection, training, and supervision of certificated and classified staff, and be a district leader in closing the opportunity gap and promoting the achievement of all students. You will help to lead transformational work to deliver on the promises outlined in both Transform Learning.

Transform Lives. as well as our long-term, city-wide North Star, Vision 2025.

The strongest candidates will have:

  • Have knowledge of San Francisco’s urban public schools and a passionate belief in SFUSD’s commitment to instructional leadership as a lever toward delivering on the SFUSD Graduate Profile.
  • Assist the principal in providing transformational leadership and help build a high‑performing school staff that accelerates student achievement and results in measurable outcomes.
  • Support the development and implementation of the site’s balanced scorecard that is aligned with the district’s strategic plan.
  • Work to create conditions for teacher effectiveness, student success, and strong home‑school partnerships.
  • Assist the principal in ensuring that all students receive a 21st century education that is academically rigorous, personalized, relevant, and engaging while building a safe and supportive school culture.
