The Doctoral Committee Member serves as an external academic advisor and evaluator, supporting doctoral candidates throughout the dissertation process and ensuring adherence to PhD program standards and requirements. This role involves reviewing doctoral-level research and scholarly writing, providing constructive feedback, mentoring candidates through key program milestones, and participating in committee meetings and dissertation defenses. The Committee Member collaborates with the doctoral candidate and faculty committee to guide research development, assess academic progress, and contribute to the successful completion of dissertation requirements while upholding the rigor and integrity of the doctoral program.
Qualities& Capabilities
A successful candidate will have:
- PhD or terminal degree in Education, Linguistics, Literacy, or a closely related field (required)
- Must have strong supervisory, teaching, research, and mentorship skills
