Responsibilities
- Lead on-site mechanical integration of marine systems during vessel retrofits and installations
- Perform hands-on mechanical work
, including:- Piping, tubing, and fluid system connections
- Mechanical assembly, alignment, and fit-up
- Troubleshooting, repairs, and field modifications
- Execute and support commissioning, testing, and system validation on onboard vessels and at shipyards
- Act as the technical lead on site
, making real-time engineering decisions - Supervise and manage field technicians
, including:- Daily task planning and execution
- Quality control and verification
- Safety and work discipline
- Coordinate installation activities with shipyards, subcontractors, and vessel crews
- Serve as the primary technical interface with customers
, shipyard managers, and marine operators - Represent NEWLIGHT professionally during installations, demonstrations, and acceptance activities
- Support FAT / SAT and customer handover processes
- Identify integration challenges and operational risks in the field
- Feed learnings back to engineering and product teams to improve designs, procedures, and documentation
- Support development of installation procedures, field manuals, and best practices
- Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field
- Strong hands-on mechanical background
— this role requires working with tools, hardware, and systems daily - Proven experience leading technicians or small operational teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate independently in the field
- Comfortable working directly with customers and external stakeholders
- Willingness to travel and work onboard vessels and in shipyards
- Naval service or maritime operational background (Engineering Officer, Chief Engineer, Technical Officer)
- Experience working in marine, shipyard, energy, or industrial field environments
- Experience with fluid systems, pressurized systems, or energy systems
- Background in commissioning, FAT/SAT, or retrofit projects
- Startup or fast-paced engineering environment experience
- Real ownership from dock to deployment
- A rare blend of engineering, leadership, and field execution
- Direct impact on deployed clean-energy marine systems
- Significant technical authority and decision-making responsibility in the field
