At Dovetail Product Development
, we are a team of engineers tackling novel hardware challenges across a multitude of industries—medical devices, aerospace, consumer tech, energy storage, and more. We thrive on solving the tough problems, and we are looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer who brings the right mix of technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership instinct to help us grow.
This isn’t just an engineering job. It’s engineering plus: plus leadership, plus strategy, plus the ability to drive projects from idea to reality. You won’t just design circuits; you’ll help shape how we execute projects, establish engineering best practices, build the team, and develop our business.
What You’ll Be Doing:- Engineering Excellence – Own electrical designs across a wide range of industries, from aerospace to medical to EV chargers. Embedded systems, power electronics, avionics—if it’s electrical, it’s on the table.
- Technical Leadership – Guide full-time staff and contractors, setting the standard for quality, efficiency, and innovation.
- Business Impact – Work with clients to turn ideas into actionable designs and be a key player in how we grow our engineering capabilities.
- Project Ownership – Oversee projects from early concepts to final prototypes. Get hands‑on, get messy, and get things done.
- Mentorship & Team Building – We’re best together
, and you’ll help foster a team that collaborates, shares knowledge, and works without ego.
Skills & Experience:
- PCB Design & Layout – Proficiency with Altium for schematic capture and board layout.
- Circuit Simulation & Analysis – Experience with tools like LTSpice, PSpice, or other circuit simulators.
- Board Bring‑Up & Debugging – Experience with hands‑on board bring‑up, troubleshooting, and embedded system debugging.
- Firmware & Embedded Systems – Familiarity with microcontrollers, embedded C, and peripheral integration.
- Regulatory & Compliance – Knowledge of designing to meet standards like FCC, UL, CE, IEC 60601, and other industry‑specific regulations.
- EMI/EMC Considerations – Experience designing to meet EMI/EMC standards and troubleshooting compliance issues.
- Power Electronics & Signal Integrity – Understanding of power supply design, high‑speed signal integrity, and grounding best practices.
- A true EE generalist – You’ve worked across multiple industries (aerospace, medical, EV, consumer, etc.) and can jump between analog, digital, embedded, and power electronics like it’s second nature.
- A leader and a doer – You’re just as comfortable rolling up your sleeves for board bring‑up as you are leading a design review.
- Business‑minded – You see beyond the schematic and understand the impact of engineering decisions on timelines, budgets, and product success.
- A go‑getter – You don’t wait for direction; you find the problems and solve them.
- A team of like‑minded engineers who care about great design and product, transparency, and taking action.
- A collaborative, fast‑paced environment where you’ll never be pigeonholed.
- Minimum number of meetings to get in your way each week.
- Performance‑based bonuses on semi‑annual basis because great work should be rewarded.
If you’re an engineer who loves tech but wants to have a bigger impact
, we want to hear from you. Let’s build something amazing together.
