Project Scheduler (Planning Scheduling & Production Planning)
Job Description:
DPR is looking for a Project Scheduler for our Planning Scheduling & Production Planning (PSPP) Team in the San Francisco Bay Area. The role involves commercial projects within Healthcare, Advanced Technology, Life Sciences, Higher Education and Corporate Office markets.
- Expert in CPM scheduling theory, level of detail, and execution.
- Experienced in Oracle Primavera P6: creating new schedules, updating schedules, troubleshooting resource loading & crew logic, cost loading, variance reports, etc.
- Strong understanding of pre‑construction planning, design development, bid/buy‑out, long‑lead procurement items, construction sequences, startup, testing & commissioning.
- Facilitate collaborative planning sessions with DPR project team, subcontractors, designers, and stakeholders to obtain input for sequencing and durations relative to overall project milestones.
- Develop contract (baseline) schedule and maintain monthly contract schedule updates in close coordination with superintendents and project team.
- Lead planning and scheduling efforts, creatively collaborate with superintendents to produce accurate schedule updates.
- Coordinate with and include subcontractor schedules.
- Create variance reports, graphics, and narratives to address potential issues or conflicts.
- Analyze acceleration options (multiple shifts, weekday OT, weekend OT) to recommend the best cost option and offset against risks.
- Train other team members in planning & scheduling best practices.
- Communicate schedule via tools such as schedule narratives, key milestones, and high‑level summaries.
- Draft quality schedule narratives, respond to schedule comments, and write concise executive summaries.
- Facilitate weekly schedule meetings with the owner and DPR project teams.
- Prepare schedule handouts and record action items.
- Produce look‑ahead schedules (e.g., 6 weeks) for weekly OAC meetings.
- Effectively communicate schedule issues, risks, conflicts, and mitigation/recovery plans to the owner.
- Create visual references/diagrams/graphics using P6 data to describe project plan, current status, and upcoming scopes of work.
- Motivate and build trust among project teams during planning sessions.
- Provide risk management input on key schedule milestones.
- Alert entire project team to potential problem areas or deviations from the plan.
- Assist in development of recovery plans, mitigation options, or delay analysis.
- 3+ years of experience as a Scheduler, preferably within DPR’s core market projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent field experience.
- A strong work ethic and a “can‑do” attitude.
- Effective problem‑solving skills.
- A flexible, detail‑oriented team player able to manage multiple tasks, work with diverse personalities & styles, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines.
- Software skills:
Acumen, Fuse, and ACC Build.
