Our Renewal practice provides owners and managers with a home for solutions to a wide range of structural, envelope, and building systems needs for existing properties of every use, age, and construction type. Our multidisciplinary design and assessment services cover a wide range of needs. We perform condition assessments, investigations, feasibility studies, and peer reviews. We design repairs, renovations, and alterations and oversee their execution in the field.

The Role

We have an opportunity for a Structural Project Engineer to join our Renewal (Structural) Practice in San Francisco. Candidates for the Structural Project Engineer position should have experience with a large range of building vintages, retrofit design application to historic and modern construction, and tenant renovation work, preferably in a consulting engineering firm environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform structural engineering services with emphasis towards existing buildings such as structural repair, seismic retrofit, renovation, emergency stabilization, and expansion of existing buildings.
  • Perform onsite assessment and data collection of existing buildings of all vintages and construction materials to support a range of evaluation and design based structural engineering services.
  • Assist in the direction, coordination, planning, organization, integration, and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility.
  • Communicate with clients to understand project requirements.
  • Plan and formulate engineering program and organize project staff according to project requirements.
  • Manage other design team members and supervise the work of engineers and draft persons.
Requirements
  • Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred.
  • Experience with existing buildings for renovation and extensions is a plus.
  • 4 years minimum experience.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the US and internationally.
Compensation

The rate for this position generally is $92,000 - $120,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the California Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful California applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in California or perform the position from California. Similar positions located outside of California will not necessarily receive the same compensation.

Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by California Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee’s pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
