A law firm in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a Patent Agent and Technical Specialist to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics, and extensive experience in patent application preparation and prosecution. The role requires at least 2 years of patent prosecution experience, with a strong background in wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
Duties- Draft and file patent applications, including claims and specifications.
- Prosecute patent applications through the examination process, including responding to office actions and handling appeals.
- Conduct technical analyses and evaluations related to wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, and computer networking.
- Perform prior art searches and provide patentability assessments.
- Collaborate with inventors, clients, and legal teams to develop and execute patent strategies.
- Review and interpret technical documents and patent filings.
- Offer technical and legal advice on patent-related matters and intellectual property issues.
- Prepare and present reports and updates on patent portfolio status and legal strategies.
- Stay updated on developments in patent law and technological advancements in relevant fields.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in patent prosecution.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
- Demonstrated technical experience with wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
- Proven ability to prepare and prosecute patent applications effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in managing multiple tasks and projects efficiently.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
CertificationsRegistration with the USPTO is preferred but not required.
