Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Project Manager - Traffic/Transportation Operations to join its transportation and infrastructure practice in Northern California. This individual will support a variety of traffic operations and transportation engineering projects, with a focus on improving system performance, safety, and multimodal mobility.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a range of operational and infrastructure initiatives, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective and innovative transportation solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, project management experience, and a proactive, client-focused approach.

Responsibilities

* Drive project execution across traffic operations and transportation engineering initiatives through implementation, ensuring alignment with broader team objectives.

* Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.

* Oversee and contribute to technical work related to:

* Traffic signal timing, coordination, and system optimization

* Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations and corridor management

* Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) planning and deployment

* Signal system maintenance, asset management, and performance monitoring (SPM)

* Traffic operations studies, warrant analyses, and operational improvements

* Traffic control plans and maintenance of traffic

* Multimodal and Complete Streets initiatives, including traffic calming strategies

* Coordinate with municipalities, transportation agencies, contractors, and utility partners to support successful, on-time project delivery.

* Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans; monitor progress and ensure quality outcomes.

* Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and quality control for junior staff.

* Present technical findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.

* Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client engagement.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.

* 10+ years of relevant transportation engineering and/or traffic operations experience.

* Professional licensure (PE, TE, or similar) required.

* Demonstrated knowledge of traffic operations principles and methodologies.

* Experience with traffic analysis tools and industry software is preferred.

* Proven experience managing projects, budgets, and client relationships.

* Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
