About the Role

JHCE is seeking a full-time electrical inspector to provide construction quality assurance oversight to electrical power distribution and instrumentation and control system construction, testing, startup, and commissioning for large scale public works water/wastewater infrastructure and power generation projects.

The Electrical Inspector must have, through training and practical hands-on experience at industrial facilities (water/wastewater is preferred), appropriate background knowledge in areas such as medium and low voltage power distribution systems, in-plant generation systems, motors and motor controls, standard and special construction requirements, instrumentation and control systems and automation, protection and control systems, and equipment inspection, installation, operation and acceptance and maintenance testing methods.

  • You must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, variable schedule environment which may include flexible hours, including early mornings or late nights.
Desired Qualifications
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or construction management desired but not required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of verifiable experience in field construction management is desirable but not required.
  • Electrical International Code Council Certifications are desirable but not required.
  • NFPA 70E Certification is desirable.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license in the State of California.
  • A current Certificate of OSHA 10-hour Construction Training is desirable but not required and may be obtained after hire.
  • EIT or Professional Engineer registration is also desirable but not required.
Role Responsibilities and Compensation

The duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned and are not intended to be an inclusive list. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time.

  • Monitors and inspects the work of contractors for compliance with plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Prepares project documentation including daily reports, force accounts, materials testing, and other construction records.
  • Participates in and/or conducts planning, preconstruction, coordination, progress, scheduling, and field staff meetings.
  • Reviews plans, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, constructability reviews and contract closeout records.
  • Assists in detecting and resolving disputes and/or problems and responds to complaints from the public.
  • Ensures that all required tests, operations, measurements, and inspections are scheduled, ordered, satisfactorily completed and documented for quality assurance/quality control compliance.
  • Verifies and prepares quantity and progress estimates for progress payments.
  • Maintains records on unit price quantities, labor, equipment and progress for change order work.
  • Reviews and approves change orders for implementation.
  • Makes field measurements and maintains as-built drawings records.
  • Conducts and/or witnesses testing of contract material, equipment, and installations.
  • Reports safety hazards and defective work to the contractor for correction.
  • Drives a vehicle to inspection sites.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
