We are a rapidly growing traffic management company specializing in Public Works Traffic Control throughout Northern California. Founded and headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, we support public agencies, general contractors, and project owners with comprehensive traffic control planning, field operations, equipment rentals, and safety solutions.
As our business continues to expand, we are seeking a Traffic Control Engineer to join our engineering team and play a critical role in designing and managing traffic control plans for public works and infrastructure projects.
Position SummaryThe Traffic Control Engineer will be responsible for reviewing project requests, developing and overseeing traffic control plans, coordinating with clients, and ensuring plans meet agency and project requirements. This individual will serve as a technical resource within the engineering department and collaborate closely with drafters, project stakeholders, and field operations teams.
The ideal candidate has experience creating traffic control plans for public works projects and enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, review, and approve traffic control plans for public works and infrastructure projects.
- Receive project requests from clients and determine project requirements.
- Review plans for accuracy, constructability, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide technical comments and recommendations to clients and project teams.
- Delegate drafting assignments and oversee the work of internal drafting staff.
- Coordinate with project owners, general contractors, municipalities, and public agencies.
- Ensure compliance with MUTCD, Caltrans standards, and local agency requirements.
- Support project planning, permitting, and traffic management strategies.
- Assist in resolving field issues related to traffic control implementation.
- Maintain project schedules and deliver plans within required timelines.
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure successful project execution.
- 4+ years of experience preparing traffic control plans.
- Experience supporting public works, utility, roadway, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of traffic control standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings and construction plans.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Experience working with public agencies is highly preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is not required but is a plus.
- Junior and mid-level candidates with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
