Position: Senior Electrical Cost Estimator - Western U.S.

Senior Electrical Cost Estimator – An experienced estimator required to produce cost estimates on projects ranging in size from $5M to $10B, including utility, substation, distribution, transmission, highway and other transportation projects. The role involves reviewing design documents, proposals, specifications, drawings, attending design development meetings and creating estimates with scope validations and risk assessments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop capital cost estimates for utility, transmission, distribution, substation and transportation projects.
  • Review contractor proposals for various procurement types.
  • Review and validate change orders.
  • Interface with external clients to present capital cost estimates.
  • Maintain organized and detailed files, project records and logs.
  • Attend project meetings as required.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 10 to 15 years of electrical field experience in utility, substation, distribution or transmission construction.
  • Progressive and successful cost estimating experience in substation and high‑voltage projects.
  • Understanding of substation configurations, SCADA and protection equipment.
  • Ability to provide constructability and cost estimates for projects lacking detailed design, using experience and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of the relationship between cost, risk and schedule.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, HCSS Heavy Bid, Sage or InEight estimating software and Blue Beam.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or a related field.
  • Certifications such as CEP, CCP, PMP or CCM.
Location

We’re considering candidates located in the Western region of the United States; the selected employee will be assigned to the nearest Jacobs office as a hybrid employee.

Salary

The base salary range for this position is $145,000 to $190,000. Pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience and relevant education or training.
