Job Description & How to Apply Below
Quantum Engineer required for a solid state Quantum computing company developing a full stack quantum computer.
In this role you will be a key contributor to the development of next-generation quantum computing platforms. The mission bridges the gap between fundamental physics and scalable technology, pushing the boundaries of Solid-State Qubit systems.
Key Responsibilities- Device Characterization & Optimization: Characterize experimental solid state qubit devices, assessing metrics such as coherence times, charge noise, and gate fidelities to provide actionable feedback to design and fab teams.
- R&D Leadership: Provide technical focus on key hardware bottlenecks, which could include: high-fidelity single- and two-qubit gate calibration, advanced pulse shaping, automated tuning algorithms, or the implementation of quantum error correction codes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with diverse teams of expert engineers (nanofabrication, microwave/DC packaging, control electronics, and software) to turn delicate quantum concepts into robust, scalable technologies.
- State-of-the-Art Implementation: Stay current with cutting-edge research, synthesizing literature to implement state-of-the-art calibration, error diagnostics (e.g., RB, GST), and system optimization techniques to continuously enhance device performance.
- Experimental Expertise: Demonstrated abilities in experimental problem-solving and hands-on research within quantum information processing.
- Quantum Control: Direct experience in the practical implementation and manipulation of coherent quantum effects.
- Technical
Skills:
Proficiency using Python in a scientific context for data analysis, instrument control, and hardware automation. - Soft Skills: Ability to thrive in a strongly collaborative, fast-paced environment with a team-first mindset, backed by excellent communication skills.
- Experience operating dilution refrigerators and managing complex cryogenic/microwave signal chains.
- Education: PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related scientific field (or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant industry/national lab experience).
- Experience utilizing quantum simulation and modeling frameworks (e.g., QuTiP, Qiskit, or scikit-quant).
- Hands-on experience with automated qubit tuning, electron spin resonance (ESR), or circuit quantum electrodynamics (cQED).
- Software development experience in a collaborative industry or open-source setting (git workflows, CI/CD).
- Previous technical role within an industrial R&D or startup environment.
