Astranis
Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, expanding humanity’s reach into the solar system. We design, build, and operate satellites from our 153,000 sq. ft. headquarters in Northern California, USA.
Role- Design RTL for high‑performance systems including software defined radios, avionics, and ground systems for commercial and U.S. Government projects.
- Work with multiple FPGAs and tool chains.
- Interface FPGAs with high‑speed data converters, memories, MCUs.
- Design, implement, and test radiation mitigation schemes on FPGAs.
- Collaborate closely with DSP/radio algorithm designers.
- Collaborate closely with embedded firmware and software engineers.
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional teammates.
- U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status Required.
- US Citizenship or Green Card (legal requirement; no exceptions).
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in hardware development.
- Passion for hardware development, hands‑on design, and a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience designing, implementing, verifying, and testing high‑throughput FPGA systems.
- Strong proficiency with Verilog (preferably System Verilog) for synthesis and verification.
- MS or PhD in Computer Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience in at least one domain beyond logic design (e.g., DSP/radio design, software, hi‑reliability design).
- Experience with Xilinx FPGAs.
- Experience with modern communication systems (RF, IF/IQ, time/frequency domains, modulation).
- Experience with Vivado IDE and TCL.
- Familiarity with system‑level estimates and implications of power, thermal, and real estate.
- Experience with high‑speed data converters (ADCs, DACs, JESD
204). - Experience with circuit‑level debugging.
- Experience with digital communication theory and implementation (e.g., LDPC).
- Experience with space‑based systems.
- Experience with UVM.

Base pay ranges from $140,000 to $205,000 USD, with additional equity, healthcare, disability and life insurance, 401(k) retirement planning, flexible PTO, and free on‑site catered meals.
