Manufacturing Engineering Manager (PCBA)

Job OverviewWe are an industry leader in high‑orbit satellite technology, managing a $1 billion backlog and 12 upcoming satellite launches. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead and scale internal PCBA production for mission‑critical hardware and build a team to support a 450‑person engineering effort.
Responsibilities- Run the production floor for the PCBA team, including setting up and running an SMT line.
- Engage with design engineers to improve assembly processes and provide feedback.
- Manage a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians.
- Own the full production lifecycle—from equipment and process selection to factory layout, capacity planning, and new product introduction—ensuring mission‑critical quality standards.
- 5–10 years of PCBA assembly/manufacturing experience, including SMT line setup and production.
- Hands‑on PCBA production experience (SMT, reflow, rework).
- Direct people leadership over engineers or technicians.
- Experience in sourcing or standing up new production lines/equipment.
- Experience running process qualifications for new equipment.
- Experience providing DFM feedback to design engineers on board manufacturability.
- BS in engineering (EE preferred, any engineering accepted).
- Can explain engineering rationale behind PCBA process decisions.
- U.S. Citizen, LPR, Asylee, or Refugee (ITAR).
- Must work on‑site 5 days/week in San Francisco.
- Experience in startup or fast‑paced environments such as SpaceX or similar companies.
- Responsive and concise communicator with high energy; no ramblers.
- Salary range: $150,000 to $230,000.
- On‑site work in San Francisco; no visa sponsorship available.
The interview process includes two virtual rounds followed by an onsite visit.
