Information and Communications Technology Designer, Google Data Centers
Our Data Center Engineering team designs the physical layout of our data centers, creating scalable, integrated solutions for both product and top‑level assembly. In this role you will bridge high‑level architectural concepts with technical telecommunications reality, ensuring robust, efficient infrastructure that supports next‑generation global deployments. You will lead multi‑disciplinary projects, coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, networking, and security trades, and produce construction‑ready drawings and layouts for telecom systems.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, Structural Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience in telecommunications system design or ICT infrastructure within an industrial environment.
- 3 years of experience in mission‑critical facility design and construction environments.
- Master’s degree in a related field (preferred).
- Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification (preferred).
- 5 years of experience contributing to ICT/telecommunications design for large‑scale data centers.
- Experience validating telecommunications product specifications and converged network allocations with external vendors.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD for 3D modeling of telecommunications rack/tray layouts.
- Rationalize network requirements into conceptual one‑lines, rack/tray layouts, and product‑level designs to ensure robust telecom infrastructure.
- Partner with Architecture, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Controls, and Security teams to align telecom scope with top‑level assembly and product development.
- Utilize Autodesk Revit and other 3D software to develop detailed designs and provide internal/external alignment on infrastructure placement.
- Review and validate construction‑level drawings and specifications from external vendors to ensure compliance with program standards and best practices.
- Provide technical engineering judgment for site‑specific escalations where canonical designs require adjustments to meet local requirements.
US: $121,000 - $175,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
