Opportunity OverviewBlack & Veatch offers an exciting opportunity for a Water Resources specialist focused on stormwater planning and design, asset management, water quality, and integrated planning. The role will drive growth of the water resources practice primarily in Northern California, with opportunities across the United States.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the pursuit and execution of water resources projects, including planning, modeling, and design of stormwater improvements such as open channels, storm or combined sewer systems, and stormwater detention/retention facilities.
- Plan and design green infrastructure and sustainable watershed measures, including structural BMPs.
- Plan and design flood mitigation improvements, including dams, levees, reservoirs, and pump stations.
- Plan and design erosion and sediment control, including SWPPP development.
- Lead regulatory compliance and permitting for USACE, FEMA, and other environmental permits.
- Provide business development leadership to identify and capture water resources services.
- Build client relationships throughout target geography to drive growth.
- Act as Project Manager for the services listed above.
- Collaborate with innovative stormwater, water quality, and planning partners to leverage new technologies.
- Provide technical mentorship to professionals.
- Identify, recruit, and supervise early-career professionals.
- Support broader Planning business opportunities in water supply, wastewater masterplan, asset management, and condition assessment.
- 11+ years of water resources planning, stormwater permitting, and design experience.
- Experience developing and executing water resource planning and design projects.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and NPDES permitting for municipal, construction, and industrial sectors.
- Experience driving client-facing business development, including RFP/Q handling.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 11 years related work experience.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) in California preferred but not mandatory.
- Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment, based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
- Competitive compensation within US $177,853 to US $266,825 per year.
