About the Role – Global Supply Chain Manager

The ESS SCM Team is seeking a Global Supply Chain Manager to own the sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management of key mechanical and electrical components across our product portfolio—including mechanical structures, enclosures, busbars, wire harnesses and printed circuit board assemblies.

In this role, you will drive supplier selection and contract execution, manage supplier cost and delivery performance, and partner cross‑functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing and Program teams to ensure components meet product requirements and timelines. This is a strategic, high‑impact role that will help define our supply chain as we transition from prototype builds to scaled manufacturing.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
  • Source and manage suppliers for one or more of the following key commodities: mechanical structures, enclosures, busbars, wire harnesses, and electromechanical & printed circuit board assemblies.
  • Drive the supplier selection process with Engineering and Manufacturing stakeholders based on quality, cost, delivery and scalability.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, lead times and commercial terms with global suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to influence DFM, design changes and part specifications early in the development cycle.
  • Support prototype programs, NPI builds and high‑volume manufacturing transitions by ensuring supplier readiness.
  • Resolve supply chain bottlenecks and lead escalation with suppliers to ensure on‑time delivery.
  • Monitor supplier KPIs (cost, quality, on‑time delivery) and lead business reviews to continuously improve performance.
  • Partner with Supplier Industrialization Engineering to validate process capability and mitigate risk.
  • Own cost management strategies for components and lead cost‑down initiatives to reduce bill of material cost.
  • Travel to supplier sites as needed (~10–20%).
What You'll Bring (Qualifications)
  • 5+ years of experience in global supply chain management, strategic sourcing or commodity management—preferably in the automotive, energy storage or consumer electronics industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following concentrations: mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, supply chain or demonstrated excellence in global supply chain management, strategic sourcing or commodity management.
  • Strong knowledge of one or more of the following manufacturing processes: sheet‑metal manufacturing (laser cutting, turret punching, press‑brake forming, etc.), stamping, welding, injection molding, wire harness manufacturing, printed circuit board assembly and electromechanical assembly.
  • Expertise in should‑cost modeling & cost breakdown analysis.
  • Experience negotiating supplier contracts such as master supply agreements and purchase price agreements.
  • Proven track record of supplier negotiation, cost reduction and commercial agreement execution.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
  • Exceptional communication, organization and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced startup environment.
  • Passion for renewable energy, sustainability and driving positive environmental impact through technology innovation.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (~10–20%).
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers.
  • Familiarity with energy storage systems, batteries or complex electromechanical products.
  • Knowledge of ERP and PLM systems (e.g., Net Suite, Arena).
Benefits

Salary range: $150,000 – $190,000, with actual pay varying based on work location, experience and skills.

  • Flexible time off.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage.
  • Strong 401(k) plan.
  • Equity opportunities.
